OK so we all remember how it was back when we were kids. Arsing about in the playground, kicking a ball around, still sure that girls smell and not having to worry about such things as bills, the sorry state of the world or BO. Now if your school was anything like mine you also had a few running jokes where you drew pictures involving a set of concentric circles and lines and labelled them as 'a mexican riding a bike', 'a mexican frying an egg' or 'three mexicans pissing into a bucket' (shown below from left to right).
Well sPAMsPAMeGGaNDsPAM can now officially reveal that this is what crop circles are about. It's aliens trying to win us over with their grasp of visual humour. And to act as evidence of this...

Competition Results!
OK, there was actually a very good response to the competition. Five whole responses were received at sPAM HQ which then brought about the very tough and totally unexpected judging ceremony ('cos I thought I'd just be making up some captions myself and then saying that out of the million and one entries, Brian from Tunisia was the victorious winner).
So for anyone completely out of the loop with all things sPAMsPAMeGGaNDsPAM the competition was as follows:
Think of captions for the following crop circle pictures
And the winnah is....(drumroll please)
Picture 1: Ewan and Gill - A Mexican entranced by watching two sharks in a tumbledryer
Picture 2: The Mighty General - Two Mexicans attempting to stretch the loch ness monster
But highly commended marks for pure abstractness must go to
Picture 1: Andy - Two sharks circling a mexican going down for the third time - Wha????
Picture 2: Alex - 5 mexicans in a corridor with three female trumpet players and two men
leaning over them unable to get passed - Maybe if you squint, turn your monitor upside down and down a pint of your favourite whisky.
First prizes are 10 Megs of webspace for a whole year on Spanners' very own server to do with as you wish. Mail spanners@spamspameggandspam.co.uk to get it sorted.
And a special mention for Justin, our 5th entrant 'cos I feel bad about not giving him a prize. The business of judging the best caption for a picture of a crop circle is a hard and ruthless one.
