My Hat
Justified Sentimentality

So anyone who knows me will be well aware of my distain for materialism and people obsessing about objects that make no difference whatsoever in the grand scheme of things. There are only two items in my life that I would say have sentimental attachment to. One is the coffee mug that my dad brought me back from a trip to Germany when I was 10 or so, I didn't start liking coffee until I was eighteen but since then this mug has greeted me filled with a steaming life-giving brew almost every morning. The second is my travelling hat. I bought this hat in an upstate New York Walmart for about six dollars right at the start of my second summer at camp in 2002 and it has been on every adventure with me since. Travelling companions have changed, countries, continents, cultures, languages and luggage allowances have passed by but that hat has remained on my head through it all. Wouldn't be a true adventure without the hat :)
